Highlights importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution

SRINAGAR: The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Pampore, under the guidance and supervision of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pulwama, successfully organized the 1st National Lok Adalat on 14th March 2026 at the Munsiff Court Pampore. The Lok Adalat was aimed at providing speedy, economical, and amicable resolution of disputes, thereby ensuring easy access to justice for the general public.
The proceedings of the National Lok Adalat were conducted by Bench No. 06, presided over by Ms. Uzma Amin, Munsiff and Chairperson, TLSC Pampore, along with Bench Member Advocate Aijaz Ahmad Khan. The Bench actively encouraged the parties to resolve their disputes through dialogue, mutual understanding, and conciliation.
Through effective mediation efforts and constructive interaction with the litigants, as many as 05 cases were amicably settled on the spot, involving a total settlement amount of Rs. 3,13,000/-. The settlements provided immediate relief to the litigants and also contributed significantly towards reducing the pendency of cases in the regular courts.
The successful conduct of the National Lok Adalat was further facilitated by the cooperation and assistance of the Prosecuting Officer, Pampore, Mr. NoveedSarwer Khan, whose proactive role proved instrumental in resolving several matters amicably.
The National Lok Adalat held at Munsiff Court Pampore once again highlighted the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in delivering timely, cost-effective, and accessible justice. Such initiatives reflect the continued commitment of the Legal Services Authorities towards promoting harmony, reducing litigation, and strengthening public confidence in the justice delivery system.
