Chairs DISHA Meeting at Anantnag; reviews progress of CSSs
ANANTNAG: On Saturday, Member of Parliament (MP) Mian Altaf Ahmad chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at Dak Bungalow, Anantnag. The focus was on reviewing the progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) being implemented in the district.
The meeting was attended by local MLAs—Altaf Ahmad Wani of Pahalgam, Dr. Basheer Ahmad Shah of Bijbehara, and Reyaz Ahmad Khan of Shangus (Anantnag East)—as well as District Development Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat, Principal GMC Anantnag, ADC, SEs from PWD, KPDCL, PHE, GM DIC, DPO, CPO, ACR, ACD, and other departmental officers.
The DDC presented a detailed status update on ongoing flagship programs and development projects across the district. A key highlight was the progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission, where out of a target of 1,32,915 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), around 93% (1,23,516 connections) have been provided.
The meeting reviewed housing schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U), emphasizing the timely completion of sanctioned houses and ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive benefits.
In the rural development sector, progress under initiatives like MGNREGA and PMAY(G) was discussed, focusing on livelihood generation, asset creation, and rural infrastructure development. The MP urged departments to expedite road connectivity projects under PMGSY, BRO, and NHAI to improve accessibility in remote and rural areas.
Health and sanitation programs, including the National Health Mission (NHM), Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY), and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), were also reviewed, with directives to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and sanitation facilities, especially in underserved areas.
The MP stressed the importance of community awareness and sustainable implementation of programs like Dharti Abha JJGA, KGVBs, and initiatives in agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, particularly for tribal welfare. He emphasized the need for proper execution of livelihood and financial inclusion schemes such as NRLM, PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, and Mudra loans.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of schemes like PMMVY, NSAP, PM Poshan, and PM Vatika, the MP highlighted the importance of ensuring benefits reach all eligible beneficiaries, especially in remote areas. He called for enhanced awareness and efficient service delivery in health, education, and social welfare sectors.
The MP assured that issues related to water supply, irrigation, roads, health, and education would be raised with the relevant authorities. Departments were instructed to draft proposals in consultation with elected representatives, adhering to rules and guidelines.
The meeting concluded with a call for transparency, accountability, and improved interdepartmental coordination to ensure the effective implementation of developmental and welfare schemes across Anantnag district.
