Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has filed a detailed chargesheet before the City Judge (Sub Registrar) Srinagar in connection with FIR No. 49/2022 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 of the RPC, related to a large-scale job fraud.
The case originated from a complaint by residents of the Tangmarg area, alleging they were duped by Reyaz Ahmad Taploo, son of Mohammad Sidiq Taploo, resident of Anchaar Dagapora, Soura, Srinagar.
“Taploo reportedly lured job seekers with false promises of employment as security guards in reputed hospitals and banks, collecting several lakhs of rupees from victims. To lend credibility to his scams, he allegedly issued fake appointment orders and distributed uniform items, misleading victims into believing the offers were genuine,” the CBK said in a statement issued here.
Following the complaint, the Crime Branch Kashmir (now EOW) conducted a thorough investigation, which revealed that the accused operated a fake NGO named “SAI NGO Consultancy.”
Using this false entity as a front, he systematically cheated unemployed youth by issuing forged appointment letters and providing fake assurances of employment, the statement said. The investigation established that Taploo engaged in cheating, forgery, and the use of forged documents, constituting serious economic offenses and exploitation of vulnerable job seekers.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the EOW has formally submitted the chargesheet to the court for judicial scrutiny and trial.
The EOW said it is committed to combating employment-related frauds and has urged the public to remain vigilant, verify the credentials of recruiting agencies, and avoid falling prey to fraudulent job offers.
