Unjust, unfair: JKSSB’s latest exam ‘scandal’ exposes deep-rooted mismanagement, says Er Ehtisham

SRINAGAR: “Yet another storm of controversy has struck Jammu and Kashmir as glaring irregularities have surfaced in the recently announced JKSSB JKP Constable (Telecommunication & photography) results. This marks yet another blow to the youth of the region, whose aspirations and trust in the system have repeatedly been shattered,” said Er. Ehtisham Khan, a prominent social and student rights activist and co-founder of The Purpose NGO:
Speaking on the matter, he said, “The results have left candidates and the public alike in disbelief, as individuals who performed poorly in other related exams have somehow managed to secure top ranks in the Telecommunications results. Such stark inconsistencies raise serious questions about the integrity of the recruitment process. These glaring discrepancies are not merely administrative blunders but an attack on the principles of merit and justice.”
Er Khan added, “This is not just a scandal—it is an outright betrayal of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Deserving candidates, who have spent years preparing to secure a better future for themselves and their families, have once again been sacrificed at the altar of corruption and inefficiency. The aspirations of the region’s brightest minds are being crushed under a flawed and compromised system.”
He said the repeated shielding of those responsible, with nothing more than convenient transfers, only fuels the public’s anger and distrust. “Heads must roll, and accountability must be ensured. The current system is neither transparent nor just. It’s high time the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister personally intervene to address this issue and ensure that those sabotaging the future of deserving candidates are held accountable,” he said.
“This is not an isolated incident,” Er Ehtisham said, adding, “The youth of Jammu and Kashmir have repeatedly faced hurdles in securing what is rightfully theirs, as scandals and controversies continue to plague recruitment processes. The lack of transparency in JKSSB’s functioning and its inability to maintain fairness demand immediate corrective measures. “
I strongly urge Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take cognizance of this matter and initiate a comprehensive and impartial inquiry. The recruitment process must be reviewed, and concrete actions should be taken to prevent such malpractices from recurring,” he said.
