Srinagar: Dry Land Agriculture Research Station in collaboration with Directorate of Extension Education, SKUAST Kashmir started Skill Training programme for Rural Youth under (STRY) sponsorship by MANAGE, Hyderabad.
The training commenced on Friday with a one-week duration (08-14th December 2023) at Government Higher Secondary School, Wathura Budgam.
The training programme “Climate Smart Agriculture Practices for Rural Livelihood” with an aim to impart skill-based learning experience to the rural youth. The training was attended by 25 participants besides the staff of the school.
Dr Shahida Iqbal, conducted the proceedings of the inaugural programme. Dr Muneer Ahmad formally welcomed the participants and the guests of the training programme who gave a brief presentation about the schedule of the event. Dr Faisul ur Rasool, training coordinator briefed the participants about the importance of climate smart agriculture and its components. He advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skill sets and the programmes offered by SKUAST-K to serve the society at large and to earn the living in a dignified manner.
The Principal of the school Mtr Yasmeen Qadir lauded the efforts of DARS, Rangreth for conducting such programmes to ignite the young minds for their betterment. Dr. Latief Ahmad, Scientist DARS-Rangreth gave his remarks about the programme. He apprised that such trainings are considered as a need of hour and demand driven for boosting the moral of youth. Imparting such training to youth is aimed at generating the income and making them self-sufficient. Dr Aamir H. Mir presented the formal vote of thanks to conclude the inaugural session.
