Two drug peddlers arrested in south Kashmir: Police

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Anantnag and Kulgam districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, a Police party of Police Station Bijbehara headed by SHO PS Bijbehara, arrested a drug peddler and recovered 36.5 Kgs of Charas Powder from his possession. He has been identified as Shakeel Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Rasool Bhat resident of Arwani Bijbehara. He has been arrested and shifted to Police station where he remains in custody, police said in a statement.
In Kulgam, a Police party of PS Qazigund headed by SHO PS Qazigund during patrolling at Naid Check, Nassu Badragund intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag, who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Mohd Hussain Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Naid Check Nassu Badragund. During search, officers were able to recover 08 Kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession, the statement said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
