Srinagar: Er. Ehtisham Khan, Co-Founder & Sr. Vice President of ‘The Purpose’, a registered NGO committed to promoting and advocating for social welfare, has called upon the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir to prioritize and enhance medical facilities for its students.
With the longstanding commitment to promoting the health and welfare of students, ‘The Purpose’ recognizes the vital role that accessible and high-quality healthcare services play in ensuring a conducive academic environment, he said in a statement.
Er. Ehtisham said the need for upgraded medical facilities arises from the increasing pressure and health concerns faced by students during their academic journey. In the past we have come across multiple reports regarding inadequate medical care from its various campuses, he said.
He added, “The health and well-being of students are paramount and we believe that access to adequate medical care is a fundamental right. As the university continues to grow and attract talented individuals from all corners of our Union Territory, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that they have the necessary resources and support to thrive both academically and personally. It is with this in mind that we have formally approached the university administration to urge improvements in medical infrastructure on its different campuses.”
Khan said students often encounter health challenges that require prompt attention and it is essential that the university’s healthcare services are equipped to meet these needs effectively.
‘The Purpose’ acknowledges the efforts made by the university in maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment by providing medical care to its students. However, we firmly believe that there is room for improvement, he added.
Er Ehtisham has urged the Vice Chancellor to emphasise the issue in order to promote the well-being of the students. “I harbour a sincere hope that the university administration takes the matter into serious consideration,” he added.
