Srinagar: In furtherance to NCC outreach initiative launched last year, NCC Group Srinagar has organized a NCC Training Camp for the Cadets from south Kashmir in Pulwama district.
This 10-day camp commenced on August 22 (Tuesday) and is being conducted by 1 J&K Battalion NCC, Srinagar. It is providing an excellent opportunity to 225 Cadets of Senior & Junior Divisions from the region to attend a NCC Camp closer to their home, Defence PRO said in a statement issued here.
NCC training Infrastructure in the South Kashmir for the cadets is yet to come up to avoid long distance travel to Srinagar or Jammu for camps, which are an essential part of NCC curriculum. The avoidable travel and consequent loss of precious academic days are always acting as a dampener for the cadets and their parents who were not comfortable in sending their children far away from home.
This camp will also lay special emphasis on the training & selection of cadets for forthcoming Republic Day Parade -2024 at New Delhi, he said, adding that endeavours will also be made to invite parents to visit ongoing camp to see their wards undergo empowerment training.
This camp has been made possible due to favourable and spontaneous support from Dilbag Singh, IPS DGP, JK Police and Tanveer Jeelani, Principal CTC Lethpora who provided all the available infrastructure support for the conduct of the camp. It is expected that conduct of such NCC training camps closer home will further motivate the youth of south Kashmir to join the NCC and grow into responsible citizen of the country, the PRO said.
