TANGMARG: Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Friday conducted an extensive visit to Tangmarg in Gulmarg Constituency, inaugurating several important projects. She inaugurated a Maternity & Child Care Block and Operation Theatre at Sub-District Hospital Tangmarg, a school auditorium at Tarhama, and a New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Lalpora.
The event was attended by MLA Peerzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, HoDs, senior district officials, and other officers. Addressing the gathering, Itoo emphasized the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare, especially for women, children, and residents of remote areas. She highlighted that the new healthcare facilities would improve maternal and neonatal care, enhance emergency services, and reduce the need for referrals to tertiary hospitals by offering timely treatment locally.
She further stated that the government continues to invest in modern healthcare infrastructure, medical equipment, and facilities across the Union Territory. Her focus remains on people-centric development, prioritizing healthcare and education, and addressing public concerns.
Later, Itoo inaugurated the new auditorium at Higher Secondary School Tarhama, emphasizing that quality education is vital for societal progress. She expressed optimism that the auditorium would serve as a hub for learning, innovation, and extracurricular activities.
Additionally, she inaugurated the Lalpora NTPHC in the presence of former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah. She assured the public that the upgraded health facility would improve primary healthcare access and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to strengthening grassroots health services.
Peerzada Farooq Shah thanked the government for fulfilling long-standing demands and highlighted that these projects would greatly benefit the community. He reaffirmed his commitment to completing ongoing developments promptly to meet public aspirations.
