NEW DELHI: The Congress on Tuesday termed the rejection of Rajya Sabha nomination paper of Meenakshi Natarajan in Madhya Pradesh “daylight robbery of democracy”, as it accused the BJP of trying to destroy the democratic process in a clandestine manner.
The opposition party asserted that it will not take this lying down and will fight this legally and politically on the streets.
A high drama ensued at the Election Commission office late in the night, when top Congress leaders, including general secretaries Jairam Ramesh, K C Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel, Sachin Pilot, and Deepa Dasmunsi rushed there to hand over a petition against the rejection, but were denied entry.
