Srinagar: In a series of targeted actions against drug trafficking and the illicit assets linked to narcotics trade, Jammu and Kashmir Police have taken significant measures across different regions, reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free society.
In Anantnag, police attached a double-storied residential house and a high-density apple orchard belonging to Mohammad Ashraf Dar, valued at approximately ₹70 lakh. The properties, suspected to have been acquired from proceeds of drug trafficking, were attached under the NDPS Act to prevent their transfer or sale, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial backbone of drug networks.
Similarly, in Ganderbal, police attached properties worth around ₹2.13 crore registered in the names of Parvaiz Ahmad Hanga and his wife, Tabassum Parvaiz. Located at Zainakote, Srinagar, these assets were linked to illicit drug proceeds and were seized under the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 23/2024. This major step aims to weaken organized drug operations by targeting their financial infrastructure.
In another measure, authorities in Awantipora demolished a shop belonging to notorious drug peddler Mohd Younis Qureshi, who has multiple NDPS cases registered against him. The illegal structure was used as a source of income from drug-related activities and was raised unlawfully. This action underscores the ongoing efforts to target the physical assets of drug offenders, disrupting their operations and deterring future trafficking.
These coordinated operations highlight the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s relentless drive under the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’ to combat drug menace comprehensively. By targeting both offenders and their assets, authorities aim to dismantle drug networks, prevent substance abuse, and foster a safer, healthier community. The police call on public cooperation to support ongoing efforts in building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
