JAMMU/SRINAGAR: In a proactive move to streamline access to finance for startups, the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) on Monday organized District-Level Credit Facilitation Meetings in Jammu and Anantnag districts. The initiative aims to establish a structured framework for improved coordination between emerging entrepreneurs and financial institutions.
The meetings were conducted in line with the District Business Reform Action Plan (D-BRAP), a flagship initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. The plan focuses on enhancing ease of doing business at the district level by improving credit accessibility, ensuring regulatory transparency, and strengthening institutional linkages.
The initiative follows the efforts to institutionalize such meetings as a regular mechanism for bridging gaps between startups and lenders. These engagements are intended to create a more transparent, efficient, and time-bound credit facilitation ecosystem.
At Jammu, the session saw enthusiastic participation from key financial stakeholders. Representatives from Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd., including Ms. Nishu Mahajan, AGM (Incharge GSS & FID), and Sh. Mohit Hans, Senior Manager (Government Sponsored Schemes), were present. The office of the Lead District Manager was represented by Sh. Mohd Imran Choudhary of State Bank of India, Rail Head Complex Jammu. The meeting began with a detailed overview of D-BRAP priorities by the District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Jammu, emphasizing the need to reduce information gaps and simplify access to institutional finance.
A similar programme was held at the JKEDI District Centre in Anantnag, where the District Nodal Officer provided insights into the D-BRAP framework. Officials from Jammu & Kashmir Bank, including the Zonal Head, Lead District Manager, and Cluster Heads, underlined the importance of timely credit linkage for business sustainability and growth. The meetings were held by the respective district centres of JKEDI under the overall supervision of Director JKEDI, Khalid Jahangir (JKAS).
Both meetings concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to strengthen collaborative efforts for improving credit facilitation systems. The initiative underscores JKEDI’s continued focus on building a supportive, transparent, and efficient ecosystem for startups across Jammu and Kashmir.
