SRINAGAR: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across Kashmir division, marked by flag unfurling ceremonies, parades, cultural events, and community participation.
In Kashmir, districts organized extensive functions to honor the day. Across Budgam, the main event took place at the Sports Stadium, where Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat unfurled the national flag and took the salute during a march-past. He paid tribute to freedom fighters and highlighted ongoing development projects, including the establishment of a new district hospital and the progress of health centers, roads, and infrastructure. Cultural programs featuring school children, including patriotic songs, folk dances, and performances, enthralled the audience. Officers and officials received awards for meritorious service, with participation from police, paramilitary, and civil officials.
In Bandipora, the main celebration was held at S.K. Stadium, with Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC), Abdul Gani Bhat, unfurling the flag and inspecting the parade. The Chairperson emphasized developmental milestones and the district’s progress in sectors like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Kulgam’s main event at the District Police Lines saw Chairperson Mohammad Afzal Parrey unfurling the flag and leading a march-past with contingents from police, paramilitary, and students. He highlighted achievements under various schemes, including housing, water supply, and social welfare programs. The celebration featured cultural performances, awards for excellence, and tributes to martyrs.
Baramulla’s celebrations at the DC Office Complex involved Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, who paid homage to freedom fighters and stressed unity and inclusive development. The event included cultural programs, floral wreath-laying ceremonies, and awards to distinguished individuals. Similar celebrations took place in Handwara, Lolab, and Karnah subdivisions, with flag hoisting, parades, and cultural programs.
In Kupwara, the main function at the District Police Lines was led by Chairperson Irfan Sultan Panditpori, who inspected the parade of police, paramilitary, and school contingents. He emphasized the district’s development efforts, including improved healthcare, road infrastructure, and water supply projects. The celebrations featured cultural performances, awards, and flag hoisting at various subdivision offices.
Pulwama’s celebrations at the District Police Lines were led by DDC Chairperson Syed Abdul Bari Andrabi, who unfurled the flag and took the salute. Ganderbal’s main event at Qamaria Stadium saw DDC Chairperson Nuzhat Ishfaq unfurling the flag amid a march-past of contingents from police, paramilitary, and youth organizations. The celebrations focused on themes of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat,’ highlighting 150 years of the national song and the vision of self-reliance. Cultural programs and tableaux showcased government schemes and local talent. Awards and recognitions were distributed to outstanding individuals and organizations.
Shopian’s main ceremony at the District Police Lines featured DDC Chairperson Bilqees Jan, who paid tribute to freedom fighters and highlighted the importance of democracy and unity. Cultural programs and awards for social welfare, healthcare, and youth achievements marked the event. Flag hoisting was also conducted at other district offices and institutions.
