SRINAGAR: Chairman of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC), Jagmohan Singh Raina, along with a galaxy of eminent social, religious, and academic figures, has expressed deep anguish over the demise of legendary litterateur, scholar, and cultural stalwart S. Paramjit Singh Bali, popularly known as “Kanwal Kashmiri.”
Describing his passing as a monumental and irreplaceable loss to the literary, intellectual, and cultural ethos of Jammu & Kashmir, Raina said that Kanwal Kashmiri was not merely a writer but an institution in himself, whose lifelong devotion to language, literature, and cultural preservation left an indelible imprint on the region’s heritage.
Joining in the condolence, Ajit Singh Mastana, Principal Niranjan Singh, Dr. Joginder Singh Shan, Sant Singh, Navtej Singh, and Davinder Singh paid rich tributes to the departed soul, recalling him as a towering intellectual, visionary scholar, and compassionate human being whose guidance shaped generations of writers, researchers, and cultural practitioners.
The leaders highlighted that Kanwal Kashmiri’s historic honour as the first writer from Jammu & Kashmir to be conferred the prestigious Shiromani Sahitya Award stands as a landmark achievement and a source of pride for the entire region. They said his vast literary contributions, scholarly insight, and selfless service to cultural institutions will continue to enlighten and inspire future generations.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, all the leaders conveyed their heartfelt condolences and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. They also prayed that the Almighty grant fortitude, patience, and strength to the family to endure this profound loss.
They unanimously asserted that Kanwal Kashmiri’s legacy will remain immortal etched in words, wisdom, and the collective cultural consciousness of Jammu & Kashmir.
