Addresses 157th Passing Out Parade at Indian Military Academy
Dehradun: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, on Saturday emphasized the significance of modern military operations such as Operation Sindoor while reviewing the 157th Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. The ceremony marked the commissioning of 525 officer cadets into the Indian Army, including 34 from 14 foreign nations.
During his address, General Dwivedi underscored that contemporary warfare increasingly requires seamless coordination between diplomacy and military action. He specifically highlighted Operation Sindoor as an example of how the Indian Army is adapting to complex security challenges. The operation, which was launched recently in a strategic area along the border, exemplifies the evolving nature of India’s military strategy—combining decisive military action with diplomatic efforts to ensure regional stability.
“The success of Operation Sindoor demonstrates the Indian Army’s commitment to swift, coordinated, and effective responses to emerging threats,” the COAS said. “Operations like Sindoor reflect our evolving doctrine of modern warfare, where technology, intelligence, and joint efforts are crucial to safeguarding our sovereignty.”
The COAS congratulated the newly commissioned officers, emphasizing that their roles extend beyond traditional combat to include leadership in multifaceted operations like Sindoor. He urged them to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity, and adaptability in an increasingly complex security environment.
Addressing the cadets, the COAS reinforced that the profession of arms is a sacred calling rooted in values of courage, sacrifice, and service. He called on the officers to lead by example, uphold ethical standards, and remain prepared for future challenges, whether in conventional warfare or modern operations such as Sindoor.
He also praised the diverse group of foreign officer cadets, noting that their camaraderie and shared training symbolize India’s growing international defense partnerships. The ceremony was attended by proud parents, senior military officials, and distinguished guests, culminating in the traditional ‘Antim Pag’ march, signifying the officers’ readiness to serve the nation.
The passing-out parade underscores India’s ongoing commitment to military modernization and strategic readiness, with Operation Sindoor representing a key element of this evolving doctrine.
