Dr Farooq, CM Omar pay tributes to Maulana Masoodi, Sofi Muhammad Akbar

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid glowing tributes to veteran leaders and political stalwarts Maulana Masoodi and Sofi Muhammad Akbar on the occasion of their death anniversaries
In a statement issued here, Dr Farooq Abdullah remembered Maulana Masoodi as an unforgettable figure in Kashmir’s political struggle against autocracy. He highlighted Masoodi’s three decades of service as the party’s General Secretary and praised his unique ability to blend social service, simplicity and politics.
He also honored the memory of Sofi Muhammad Akbar saying that he stood at the forefront in safeguarding the interests of the people and made immense sacrifices for the cause of Kashmir.
CM Omar Abdullah echoed these sentiments. He described Maulana Masoodi as a giant among the close associates of Sheikh Sahib and an enduring presence in the region’s political history, whose contributions to the shaping of modern Jammu & Kashmir remain unparalleled.
Speaking of Sofi Muhammad Akbar, Omar said that Sofi Sahib embodied remarkable courage, commitment, and integrity and that his lifelong dedication to public welfare and his steadfastness during testing times earned him deep respect across Jammu & Kashmir.
Among others Party General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Advisor to HCM Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial President Showkat Mir have also paid glowing tributes to both the stalwarts.
