Dr Farooq asks party MPs to prioritise public issues, restoration of statehood

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah asked party MPs to actively raise pressing public issues concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Emphasising the growing demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq asked party MPs to ensure that this matter receives earnest attention at every relevant platform.

He further asked the party’s representatives in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to vocally highlight the concerns of minorities across the country. He stressed that safeguarding the rights and dignity of minority communities is a constitutional responsibility and must remain a priority in parliamentary discussions.

Reaffirming National Conference’s commitment to the welfare of the people, Dr Farooq said that the party will continue to champion democratic rights, inclusive development, and the restoration of J&K’s political and constitutional status.

Meanwhile, the NC President Sunday visited Friends Colony, Shalimar, to offer his condolences to Prof Muhammad Yasin Qadri, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, on the sad demise of his wife.

He offered Fatiha for the departed soul and expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, praying for strength and solace during this difficult time.

On the occasion, he also interacted with people from various walks of life who had gathered to extend their condolences, sharing words of comfort and solidarity with the bereaved family.
