CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that the purported video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that has been going viral on social media is “completely fake” and that the court has ordered its removal.“A deep fake video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Ji is being shared on social media by Right Wing Trolls. This video is completely fake, and an order to remove it has been issued by the honorable court,” the AAP said in a post on X.The purported video was first shared on Facebook by one Jagman Samra, who also offered a reward of Rs 5 crore to anyone who proved the video as fake or AI generated.Following this, an FIR was registered against Samra for allegedly posting the doctored video of CM Bhagwant Mann on social media. The State Cyber Cell, Mohali, has registered a case in this regard under Sections 340(2), 353(1), 353(2), 351(2), and 336(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari questioned the silence of Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.“An alleged video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is going viral, and people across Punjab have seen it. The public of Punjab is now asking Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann: when they question everyone else, why are they silent now, when their own video has surfaced?” he asked. The BJP spokesperson further asked, “If the video is fake, why is the Punjab government so restless and panicking?”He added, “Their nervousness and anxiety indicate that Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal know there’s some truth in this video. Recently, the son of Punjab’s former DGP was murdered, yet both Mann and Kejriwal remained silent. This viral video has reached every household in Punjab, but they are still quiet.”
