JKACS organises HIV/AIDS Awareness Rallies in Kulgam and Anantnag under Intensified IEC Campaign

Kulgam/Anantnag:In a continued effort to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, two separate events were organized on Thursday at PHC LG Pora in Kulgam District and NTPHC Dialgam in Anantnag under the Intensified IEC Campaign. The programs aimed to educate Block ASHA Coordinators, ASHA facilitators, and ASHA workers from various blocks and villages to enhance and streamline awareness activities in their respective areas.

 

At PHC LG Pora Kulgam, the rally began with an inaugural address by Dr. Showkat Ahmad Parray, Chief Medical Officer Kulgam. He was joined by Dr. Gawher Ali, BMO, Ms. Sabiha Iqbal, Assistant Director MS from the J&K AIDS Control Society, and Mr. Gull Mohammad, DAC Kulgam. Prior to the rally, participants were briefed about various aspects of HIV/AIDS and the objectives of the Intensified IEC campaign to strengthen grassroots-level awareness.

 

Meanwhile, a similar rally was organized at NTPHC Dialgam Anantnag, which was inaugurated by Dr. Khalid Parvaiz, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, in the presence of Dr. Shafi, BMO Larnoo, Ms. Sabiha Iqbal, Assistant Director MS, Dr. Akhtar, DHO, Raja Mushtaq, DAC, Shahnawaz, DPC NCD, along with BACs and ASHA facilitators. Participants were sensitized on key aspects of HIV/AIDS prevention, early detection, and stigma reduction.

 

Both events emphasized the pivotal role of ASHA workers in disseminating accurate information about HIV/AIDS and promoting health-seeking behavior in communities across South  Kashmir.
