SRINAGAR: As India gears up to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a delegation of military veterans and Veer Naris embarked on a significant visit to the Chinar Corps headquarters in Srinagar, underscoring the enduring spirit of patriotism and sacrifice associated with the war.

Led by Rear Admiral Rajvir Singh (Retd), former Principal of the Indian Naval Academy, the Ex-Servicemen’s team arrived at Badami Bagh Cantonment on July 2 and paid homage at the Chinar War Memorial. The delegation also visited the “Ibadat-e-Shahadat” museum, immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside the heroic tales of the Indian Army and the Chinar Corps’ role in defending the nation’s sovereignty.

The visit was organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad as a prelude to the upcoming celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas. During their stay, the veterans and Veer Naris engaged in discussions with the Chinar Corps Commander, emphasizing the importance of ex-servicemen’s involvement in fostering community ties and nation-building efforts in Kashmir.

The Corps Commander lauded the energy, camaraderie, and patriotic fervor of the veterans, highlighting that the valor and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers embody the motto “Naam Namakaur Nishaan” — “Name, Honor, and Insignia.” He reaffirmed the enduring spirit of the soldiers, stating, “Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier.”

As part of the nationwide observance, solemn events are planned across Srinagar, Drass, and Kargil to honor the bravery of those who fought in the 1999 conflict and to celebrate India’s victory. The visits and interactions serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made and the collective resolve to uphold peace and sovereignty in the region.

The initiative reflects a continued commitment to recognize the contributions of military veterans and to foster unity and patriotism among all citizens ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
