Mushtaq Guroo reaffirms commitment to resolving Yayil Rawalpora’s drainage crisis

SRINAGAR: Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) CHanapora constituency Mushtaq Guroo on Tuesday visited the residence of Zulufkar Haider’s maternal uncle to offer heartfelt condolences on the demise of Late Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Dar. Mr. Guroo paid rich tributes to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, offering prayers for peace and eternal rest.
During the visit, Mr. Guroo also took note of the long-standing drainage issues plaguing the local community. This marks his third visit to the site, underscoring his commitment to addressing the critical concerns of the residents.
The people of Yayil Rawalpora have been grappling with severe problems caused by stagnant water due to an outdated and ineffective drainage system. The situation has worsened due to delays in obtaining necessary approvals for digging drainage lines under the railway bridge—an essential step for diverting sewage and preventing overflow.
Mr. Guroo informed the public that the matter has been officially taken up with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Drainage Division. He reassured the residents that active steps are being pursued to expedite approvals and implement sustainable solutions at the earliest.
“Resolving this issue is not just a matter of civic infrastructure—it’s about restoring dignity and comfort to daily life,” Mr. Guroo stated. “I remain committed to ensuring that the people of Yayil Rawalpora receive the attention and services they rightfully deserve.”
The visit highlights Mr. Guroo’s hands-on approach and continued dedication to public welfare in the constituency.
