SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed optimism following the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan on Saturday.
In a tweet, he stated, “Alhumdulilah. Better sense has prevailed and India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire. It’s a huge relief for all, especially those living on both sides of the LOC where precious lives were lost and shelter and livelihoods destroyed.”
He further welcomed the broader prospects of dialogue, referencing US Secretary Marco Rubio’s comments on talks covering a wide range of issues as a positive development.
Mirwaiz said that dialogue remains the key to peace and stability in the region, and he appreciated the leadership on both sides for coming together to reach this agreement.
