Pillion rider dies, biker injured in Gbl road accident

GUND (GANDERBAL): A tragic road accident in the Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday afternoon resulted in the death of a pillion rider and left the bike rider critically injured.

Officials said that the mishap occurred near the Gund 21 area of Gund Kangan when a motorcycle, bearing registration number JK02C-6240, was struck by a 407 vehicle belonging to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). The collision caused severe injuries to both the rider and the pillion passenger.

The injured duo was immediately rushed to PHC Gund for treatment. However, doctors declared one of the injured brought dead on arrival. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Qasim, son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Thanamandi in Rajouri district.

The bike rider, Mohammad Ashraf, also hailing from Thanamandi Rajouri, sustained serious injuries and is currently under medical supervision.

Gund police registered a case, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
