SRINAGAR: Government Degree College (GDC) Soibugh hosted a road race event for both male and female students on May 1, 2025, meticulously organized by the Department of Physical Education. The primary aim of this occasion was to provide a distinguished platform for students to showcase their athletic prowess while simultaneously promoting the importance of physical fitness and healthy competition.
The level of participation was truly commendable, as a substantial number of students eagerly engaged in this competition. The race commenced at 8:00 AM, spanning from Harran village to Soibugh town, the college said in a statement issued here.
In the boys’ category, Sajad Bashir from the second semester clinched the first position, followed by Ishfaq Rashid in second and Muzamil Ahmad Tantray in third. In the girls’ division, SabreenaAkram secured the first position, Adfar Jan earned second, and Mehvish Akhter took third. In recognition of their outstanding achievements, all position holders were awarded medals, trophies, and certificates during a formal prize distribution ceremony.
The in-charge principal, Professor Roohi Jan, addressed all participants with great enthusiasm, emphasizing the vital role that sports activities play in fostering teamwork, discipline, and overall physical health among students.
