Srinagar: Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr. Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq addressed a large gathering at the historic Aali Masjid Eidgah in Srinagar on the occasion of Youm-e-Badr, marking his first speech at the venue in seven years.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of the Battle of Badr, he highlighted their sacrifices and the battle’s significance in shaping the spread of Islam under the leadership of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
The event also commemorated the 58th death anniversary of Muhajir-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molana Muhammad Yousuf Shah. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq honored the late scholar’s contributions, emphasizing his resilience in the face of exile and his dedication to religious and social causes. He particularly highlighted Yousuf Shah’s translation and interpretation of the Holy Quran into Kashmiri, calling it a lasting legacy that continues to benefit future generations.
Mirwaiz Umar announced that the Mirwaiz Foundation is developing a mobile app version of Bayan-ul-Furqan, Yousuf Shah’s renowned Quranic exegesis, to cater to contemporary needs and engage the younger generation while preserving the Kashmiri language.
Prominent religious scholars, including Molana Shaukat Hussain Keng, Molana Khursheed Ahmed Qanoongo, Molana M.S. Rahman Shams, Peerzada Ghulam Nabi Shah, and Rafiq Ahmad Zargar, also spoke at the event, highlighting Muhajir-e-Millat’s role as a spiritual and political guide for Kashmiris.
