SSP Handwara chairs public interaction meet
BARAMULLA: DIG North Kashmir Range Baramulla Maqsood-ul-Zaman-IPS on Wednesday visited district Bandipora in order to review security scenario, anti-terrorist operations, law & order situation in the district.
At the onset of the visit the DIG NKR visited the location of Kishan Ganga Hydel Power Project, accompanied by SSP Bandipora Harmeet Singh Mehta-JKPS and other senior officers of Bandipora Police. He reviewed the present security grid of the project and directed officers on ground to remain extra alert and deal with any kind of exigency professionally.
The DIG later on chaired a meeting with officers at District Police Headquarters Bandipora. During the meeting, he appreciated the efforts of Bandipora Police for maintaining law & order in the district. He also took stock of the overall security situation and counter insurgency operations and emphasized upon the officers to adopt a professional approach while dealing with counter insurgency operations.
SSP Handwara Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, held a public meeting at Town Hall Langate. The event was attended by Addl. Superintendent of Police Handwara, SDPO, SHO PS Handwara and other officers. The meeting was attended by community leaders, social activists, religious heads, traders and other respectable citizens of the area.
During the course of interaction, attendees raised various issues/grievances which were given patient hearing by the SSP Handwara and assured them that the police-related issues will be redressed on priority basis, while as issues related to civil administration, will be referred to the concerned departments for promptly and urgent action.
While addressing the participants, SSP Handwara emphasized upon the importance of setting up community policing in order to strengthen Police Public trust. He urged for collective efforts to combat drug abuse and social evils that has emerged as a big challenge in society, calling for a mission-driven approach from community service to eradicate the drug menace.
