Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to chair the cabinet meeting in Jammu on January 20.
The meeting is likely to address several critical issues, including a proposal to approve the Dearness Allowance (DA) installment for government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners, effective from 1 July 2024, according to the reports.
This initiative aims to provide financial relief to government staff and their families amidst rising living costs.
Discussions are anticipated on implementing a tiered faculty structure at the Government Dental College, Srinagar, and the Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu.
The cabinet is also expected to propose removing interviews for Pay Level-6 posts, with selections to be based solely on merit through written tests.
Proposed amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax Act of 2017 will also be reviewed, aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of tax administration in the region, the report said.
The cabinet is also likely to seek approval to construct a new emergency operation theatre block at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.
Additionally, a recommendation is expected to be made regarding the scheduling of the upcoming Budget Session of the Legislature.
Various other projects and schemes, including post facto administrative approvals, will also be discussed. Once finalised, decisions will be forwarded to the Lieutenant Governor for approval.
