SRINAGAR: The J&K Ball Badminton Association (JKBBA) held successful selection trials for the J&K UT Junior National Boys and Girls teams today at Gindun Sports Stadium, Raj Bagh, Srinagar. This initiative is part of the preparations for the upcoming 69th Junior National Ball Badminton Championship, which will take place in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from January 17 to January 21, 2024.
The selection trials were conducted under the vigilant supervision of the J&K Sports Council, featuring an esteemed committee consisting of Mr. Maqsood Ahmad Khan, Deputy Manager of the SKISC, and Mr. Shabir Yoga, Incharge of the Sports Stadium Budgam, serving as observers. They were joined by key members of the JKBBA, including Ms. Arsheena Khan, General Secretary of JKBBA and Joint Secretary of the Ball Badminton Federation of India (BBFI), Mr. Mohsin Farooq, Joint Secretary of JKBBA, and Mr. Tabish Mustafa Bhat, a member of JKBBA.
The committee diligently evaluated the performance of participants and successfully selected 16 boys and 16 girls from a total of 20 boys and 20 girls who participated in the trials. These players will represent Jammu and Kashmir at the national championship.
To ensure the players are well-prepared, the selected athletes will attend a residential coaching camp scheduled from December 24, 2023, to January 13, 2024, at Gindun Sports Stadium. A final screening test will take place on January 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the same venue, conducted by the J&K Sports Council.
All selected players are required to report to Gindun Sports Stadium for the residential coaching camp and the screening test, bringing their age proof certificates and two passport-size photographs, the association said.
The J&K Ball Badminton Association has expressed confidence in the selected players’ abilities and looks forward to their representation at the national level, highlighting the growing talent in the state and fostering the development of ball badminton in Jammu and Kashmir.
