SRINAGAR: A screening test for the Jammu and Kashmir Senior Women’s Ball Badminton team was successfully conducted on December 21, 2024, at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, in preparation for the 70th Women’s Senior National Ball Badminton Championship 2024-25. The event is set to take place in Raigad, Maharashtra, from December 25 to December 29, 2024.
The players selected for the screening had previously participated in a selection trial on November 11, 2024, at Gindun Sports Stadium, Raj Bagh, Srinagar. Following the trial, they joined a Residential Coaching Camp, which was held from November 12 to December 3, 2024, also at Gindun Sports Stadium.
The players who passed the screening will now travel to Raigad on December 23, 2024, to represent Jammu and Kashmir in the prestigious National Championship.
The screening process was conducted under the supervision of the J&K Sports Council Screening Committee, which included Mrs. Nusrat Gazala (Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir, J&K Sports Council), Mr. Mushtaq Ah Zargar (Senior Manager, J&K Sports Council), Mr. Akbar Khan (Member, J&K Sports Council), and members of the J&K Ball Badminton Association. The committee was also supported by Ms. Arsheena Khan (General Secretary, J&K Badminton Association & Joint Secretary of Ball Badminton Federation of India), Mudasir Qayoom (Senior Vice President, J&K Ball Badminton Association), Mohsin Farooq (Joint Secretary, J&K Ball Badminton Association), along with other members of the Association and reputed National players.
The selected team is looking forward to competing at the National Championship, which promises to be a significant event for the state’s ball badminton players.
