CRPF Inter-Operational Battalions Hockey Tournament kicks off in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The much-anticipated Srinagar Sector CRPF Inter-Operational Battalions and Group Centre Hockey Tournament 2024 commenced this morning at the Synthetic Hockey Field, Pologround, Srinagar. Despite the chilly winter, the event witnessed an energetic start with an overwhelming display of sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
The three-day tournament brings together 20 teams representing various formations of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deployed across the Srinagar Sector. The primary aim of this initiative is to identify talented players and prepare them for higher-level tournaments at the force level, contributing to the promotion of sports within the CRPF and beyond.
R.K. Baruah, Commandant of the 132 Battalion CRPF, inaugurated the tournament with a formal ceremony that included an impressive display of skill, as he dribbled the hockey ball up to the goal post to mark the start of the games. The enthusiasm and dedication of the participating teams were applauded by CRPF officials and personnel present at the venue. Sh Gurudeep Singh, President Hockey Jammu and Kashmir also graced the occasion with his magnanimous presence.
The tournament is being conducted with the active support of Hockey Jammu & Kashmir and the Sports Council of Jammu & Kashmir. This collaboration underscores the commitment to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and excellence in the region.
The CRPF remains steadfast in its mission to not only ensure national security but also to contribute to the holistic development of its personnel through initiatives such as these. The games will continue until December 4, with the finals and the closing ceremony expected to attract significant attention.
