HAJIN: The Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW) organized a vibrant cultural exchange program on Friday at the Town Hall MC Hajin, attracting participation from over 200 adolescent girls and their parents from various villages in the Hajin block and other intervention areas.
The program highlighted JKASW’s commitment to creating safe spaces for adolescent girls through community-based resource centers. These centers aim to empower girls from marginalized and disadvantaged communities, offering opportunities for meaningful interaction and personal growth.
The event provided a platform for adolescent girls to showcase their hidden talents and creativity. Highlights included skits, *Ladishah* performances, songs, riddles, *Mushaira,* Pahadi songs, and other cultural activities. These performances reflected the unique perspectives, aspirations, and achievements of the participants while addressing adolescent-specific issues and challenges.
Dr. Kulsum Bhat, Project Manager of JKASW, emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting cultural traditions. “Our rich cultural heritage is a treasure that must not be forgotten. Events like these help revive and celebrate our shared traditions, while also empowering young girls to express themselves and build confidence,” she said.
The program reaffirmed JKASW’s dedication to fostering an environment where adolescent girls can thrive and contribute meaningfully to their communities while celebrating the cultural richness of the region.
