SRINAGAR: In a continued effort to strengthen community-police relations, the police in Handwara and Kulgam organized Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings to engage with local citizens and address their concerns.
In Handwara, the PCPG meeting was held at Police Post Zachaldara, chaired by the Incharge of the Police Post under the guidance of SSP Handwara, Shri Ifroz Ahmad-JKPS. The meeting was attended by Numberdars, Chowkidars, and other respected members of the community.
During the session, participants raised various issues of public importance. The chairing officer assured the attendees that their concerns related to police matters would be prioritized and resolved swiftly. Issues related to civil administration were also noted and would be forwarded to the relevant departments for timely action. The officer urged the community members to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order, as well as in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements that attempt to disrupt the region’s peaceful environment. The participants expressed their full support for the police and commended the initiative to create an open space for dialogue.
In Kulgam, similar PCPG meetings were conducted at Police Stations Kund and DH Pora, as well as at Police Post Navyug Tunnel. These meetings, chaired by the respective jurisdictional officers, were attended by prominent citizens from areas including Kraloo, Kanchloo, Nigeenpora, DH Pora, and Ujroo.
A range of local issues was discussed, including the eradication of drug abuse, food adulteration, traffic congestion, as well as problems related to drinking water shortages and electricity supply. The chairing officers listened attentively to the concerns raised and assured the participants that issues concerning other government departments would be immediately communicated to the relevant authorities for swift resolution. Police-related concerns, on the other hand, would be addressed as a priority.
The officers emphasized that these meetings are an essential tool for improving policing and soliciting public feedback. They expressed gratitude to the community for their active participation and valuable suggestions. Additionally, the attendees were encouraged to continue cooperating with the police in maintaining peace and identifying any individuals who might attempt to undermine the region’s stability.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the community to ensure a secure and harmonious environment for all.
