CEO Bandipora’s Additional Charge Delays Municipal Works in Hajin

Must read

HAJIN: Residents of Hajin town are grappling with many challenges as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MC Bandipora/Sumbal holds the additional charge of Executive Officer (EO) for the Municipal Committee Hajin. This dual role has caused substantial delays in essential municipal works, impacting daily life and causing frustration among locals.

Residents said that routine tasks, such as obtaining official signatures, often require extended wait times.

According to the official roster, the EO is scheduled to visit the Hajin office on Fridays and Saturdays, but due to a busy schedule at other offices, he rarely attends. “I applied for a birth certificate for my son, but the process has been delayed due to the EO’s limited availability,” said Abdul Majeed, a local resident. “Death and birth certificates are especially affected by the staff shortage.” He added that residents often have to inquire with other employees about the EO’s presence, making simple processes cumbersome.

Since the retirement of the previous EO, the responsibilities have fallen on the CEO of MC Bandipora/Sumbal, leading to a backlog of work and inefficiencies in the municipal office. This dual responsibility has stretched the municipal works in Hajin, stalling progress on essential functions.

Residents urged Director of Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, to appoint an Executive Officer for Hajin’s Municipal Committee. They said that relieving the EO Sumbal of this additional charge will allow for smoother and more efficient municipal operations, ensuring timely processing of vital documents and restoration of essential services in the town.
