GANDERBAL: Shahi Hamdan Public School in Gund Sonamarg, Ganderbal district, organized an awareness rally on Friday to mark World No Tobacco Day. A large number of students and staff members participated in the event, which aimed to highlight the health hazards associated with tobacco use.
The rally commenced from the school premises and proceeded to the main market in Gund. Students held placards to draw attention to the multiple adverse effects of tobacco use on health, advocating for the implementation of effective laws to reduce tobacco consumption.
Adil Ahmad Lone, the principal of Shahi Hamdan Public School, stated that the theme of the rally was “Games In, Drugs Out,” focusing on raising awareness about the hazardous diseases caused by smoking and exposure to tobacco. These health issues include lung cancer and chronic respiratory diseases.
“I am very thankful to all the students, staff members, police, and locals of the area for their support in this initiative,” Adil Ahmad Lone said. “Their involvement is crucial in sensitizing the community about the dangers of tobacco and promoting healthier lifestyles.”
