Govt issues ‘high’ risk warning for Apple users: List of impacted devices

NEW DELHI: The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has discovered multiple vulnerabilities in Apple devices including iPhone, iPad and MacBook. Issuing a warning against the existing vulnerabilities, the cyber security team has advised Apple users to update their devices to the latest version.

As per the CERT-In advisory, multiple vulnerabilities have been identified in Apple products that can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information disclosure, bypass security restriction and execute a remote code on the targeted system.

Which Apple software are affected?

The CERT-In advisory has listed following software versions as vulnerable:

Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 16.7.8

Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.5

Apple macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.7.5

Apple macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.7

Apple macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.5

Apple Safari versions prior to 17.5

Apple watchOS versions prior to 10.5

Apple tvOS versions prior to 17.5

Govt advises Apple users to update their devices

In its advisory, the CERT-In has advised users to update their iPhones, iPads, Macs and other affected devices to the latest version. To update your Apple iPhone and iPad, head to Settings and tap on General>Software Update.

Apple Mac users can click on the Apple menu and then select System Preferences to install the latest update on their laptops.
