NCERT textbooks for Classes 3, 6 under new syllabus to be available in April, May

New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release the books for Classes 3 and 6 under the new syllabus in April and May, respectively. The Council has asked the parents and students to be patient and not to get worried.
The announcement to release the textbooks this month and May comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) earlier last week had directed all affiliated schools to follow the new syllabi and textbooks for Classes 3 and 6 from the 2024-25 academic session.
The NCERT also said that it is making efforts to provide school books on time and about 33 lakh books of Classes 1, 2, 7, 8, 10 and 12 have been printed and delivered to bookshops so far. While books for classes 3, 4, 5, 9 and 11 will be available in the market by this month, the Class 6 books will be available in May, the Council added.
The plan to release the books for the two classes under the new syllabus is made by NCERT as Class 3 marks the start of preparatory and Class 6 marks the beginning of the middle stages and they needed a revamp so that they are in line with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE).
To ensure a seamless transition into the new syllabus, the NCERT had also prepared “bridge programme” for Class 6 and “brief guidelines” for Class 3 for schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
