SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora have arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest from the last 19 years in case FIR No. 54/2004 of PS Awantipora.
“Warrant under section 512 CrPC issued by Hon’ble Court of Principal Session Judge Pulwama pending with Police Station Awantipora against an accused person namely Mohammad Yousuf Sofi son of Gh Rasool Sofi resident of Panzgam was executed, who was evading his arrest from last 19 years, involved in case FIR NO. 54/2004 of Police Station Awantipora was arrested by a special,” police said in a statement.
Police team under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (SP) and comprising SHO Awantipora Inspector Zahoor Ahmed among others. Subsequently, the arrested accused person was produced before the court of law.
“Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities,” police said.
