Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Bla, Kulgam

SRINAGAR: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Baramulla, a police party of Police Post Delina headed by IC PP Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Delina Marke intercepted a person. During search, 72 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus psychotropic substances were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aqib Nazir Malik son of Nazir Ahmad Malik resident of Sangrama Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Baramulla where he remains in custody, police said in a statement.
“In Kulgam, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach crossing intercepted one suspected person identified as Mohammad Ramzan Lone son of Wali Mohd Lone resident of Hawoora, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 4 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance filled in the nylon bag was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” the statement said.
Police said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law,” police said.
