AEE urges timely payment, highlights revenue loss due to outstanding bills

PAMPORE: The Power Development Department (PDD) launched a significant power disconnection campaign targeting defaulters in the Saffron Town area of Pampore, located in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, on Wednesday.
During the drive, those who failed to settle their long-pending bills, amounting to lakhs of rupees, faced disconnection.
The disconnection team, led by AEE PDD Pampore, Er Mohammad Ashraf, executed the disconnections, as informed by officials to Kashmir Reader.
A total of 80 shopkeepers had their electricity supply disconnected by the department during the operation.
Officials mentioned that the disconnections targeted business units with substantial outstanding bills.
AEE PDD Er Mohammad Ashraf appealed to the public to prioritize timely payment of power bills, underscoring its significance akin to prompt mobile phone recharge or bill payments.
In a conversation with Kashmir Reader, AEE PDD Er Mohammad Ashraf explained, “Today, we initiated a disconnection drive in the Drangbal area of Saffron Town Pampore targeting customers with significant outstanding dues. This drive follows a similar initiative last month in Wuyan and Khrew areas of Pampore, which led to payments from many customers. The drive will continue tomorrow.”
“We have disconnected 80 connections during this drive, targeting defaulters with substantial outstanding balances. We urge everyone to clear their electricity bills promptly,” he added.
Highlighting the financial strain on the department due to outstanding payments, Ashraf stressed the importance of timely bill settlements. “Just as we promptly recharge our mobile phones or pay mobile bills, I urge you to pay your monthly power bills on time,” he emphasized.
