Leopard captured after injuring youth in Hajin

BANDIPORA: Authorities successfully captured a leopard that had attacked and injured a 24-year-old government employee in Hajin town in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The incident occurred in the Mir Mohalla locality of Hajin on Monday, where Umar Zahoor, the victim and son of Zahoor Ahmad Sofi, was attacked by the wild animal while outdoors near his home.
Prompt action by local residents ensured Umar’s timely rescue, and he was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. Subsequently, the Wildlife Team from Bandipora, in collaboration with Force Protection Officer K08 Shakeel Ahmad, headed by Ranger Officer Wildlife Fida Hussian and his team, rushed to the location and successfully captured the leopard.
Fida Hussain stated that the captured leopard has been safely relocated to Dachigam National Park, emphasizing the importance of such interventions to safeguard both wildlife and local communities.
