BOMIS Pampore student clinches top position in IISM’s 14-day snow skiing competition at Gulmarg

Pampore: In a remarkable achievement, 9th-grade student Kallim Ullah Irfan, representing Birla Open Minds International School (BOMIS) Pampore, and hailing from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, secured the first position in the Intermediate Snow Skiing competition held at Gulmarg.
Kallim Ullah Irfan, son of Irfan Ahmad, resident of Sarnal KP Road Anantnag, and student of Birla Open Minds International School Pampore, displayed exceptional skill and determination during the two-week-long skiing event organized by the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Approximately 80 students from various corners of the country participated in the competition, where Kallim Ullah Irfan stood out, clinching the coveted first position. This accomplishment not only reflects Irfan’s individual excellence but also highlights BOMIS Pampore’s commitment to nurturing diverse talents and providing opportunities for students to excel in both academics and extracurricular activities.
The successful collaboration between the Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) and the Ministry of Tourism has further strengthened the platform for young enthusiasts to explore and showcase their potential in snow sports, contributing to the growth of winter sports in the region and the nation at large.
The graduation ceremony, attended by Brigadier S S Shekhawat, KC, SC, SM, VSM, Deputy Commandant of the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), celebrated the achievements of participants. Kallim Ullah Irfan was awarded the first position certificate and memento during the closing ceremony.
The Principal and Management of Birla Open Minds International School Pampore extended congratulations to Kallim Ullah Irfan, emphasizing that his victory is a source of pride not only for BOMIS Pampore but for the entire J&K Union Territory and the country.
Kallim Ullah Irfan expressed his delight, stating, “I am very pleased to have secured the first position in this skiing course, and I am extremely happy. I will continue to work hard for the future.” He encouraged his friends and other students to participate in such events for personal development and exposure.
The achievement of Kallim Ullah Irfan stands as a testament to his dedication, familial encouragement, and parental support, making it a noteworthy success in the Ahmad household. His outstanding performance places him at the forefront among the 80 students who participated from various parts of India in this batch.
