Pampore: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, part of the Social Welfare Department’s Mission Shakti in Pulwama, marked the enthusiastic celebration of “Veer Bal Diwas” at Palash Children Home for Boys in Patalbagh, Pampore, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Guided by District Social Welfare Officer Azhar Amir, the event brought together dignitaries, including TSOs Pulwama Pampore and Tral Irshad Maqbool, Shujahat Qadir, Tariq Ahmad, ZEO Pampore, Superintendents of Palaash and Pareesha Sumaira, District Mission Coordinator Mansha Ahad, Gender Specialists, Specialists in Financial Literacy, along with other team members of DHEW, Central Administrator (OSC), teachers from different high schools, and students from child care institutions.
Certificates and mementos were distributed to participants in recognition of their dedication and contributions. “The celebration aimed to pay tribute to Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, who played a pivotal role in shaping the commemorative event,” officials said.
Various activities were organized, including a Drawing Competition, Recitation Competition, and Essay Competition. The event featured the telecast of the Prime Minister’s message on Veer Bal Diwas and concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Veer Bal Pratiyogita.
District Mission Coordinator Mansha Ahad emphasized the historical significance of Veer Bal Diwas and highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind’s children. She commended the participation of children from different institutions across Pulwama district.
Speaking about the program, District Social Welfare Officer Azhar Amir underscored its dedication to celebrating Children’s Day, specifically referred to as “Bal Veerji.” The event aimed to commemorate the sacrifice of Guru Gobind’s children and promote the spirit of bravery among the youth.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, addressed the program marking ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. PM Modi emphasized the never-say-die attitude for the protection of Bhartiyata, highlighting the celebration as a symbol of the heritage of Sikh Gurus and a national tribute to courageous mothers.
