SKUAST-K holds two advanced management programs on food safety, postharvest handling

Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir on Wednesday held inaugural-cum-valedictory function of two advanced management development programs (A-MDPs) on food safety, quality management, and postharvest handling and preservation of horticulture produce.
Director, Education, SKUAST-K, Prof MAA Siddiqui, presented an in-depth analysis of India’s food production landscape. He urged the division to explore commercialization opportunities of the innovative technologies that they have developed.
Director, Research, Prof Haroon R Naik, who is also the Nodal Officer of MSME at the university, emphasized the importance of focusing on practical training sessions and formulation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) in future training programs. Dean, Faculty of Horticulture, Prof Shabir Ahmad Wani, provided a historical context on food auditing and placed significant emphasis on fostering entrepreneurship within the food processing sector.
Head Division of Food Sciences, Prof Syed Zameer Hussain, provided a comprehensive overview of the Nation’s food security landscape. He shed light on the prevalent hunger challenges faced by the country. Program, Dr Abida Jabeen, gave the overview of the trainings. Prof Musarat Shafi and
Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Zargar from the Division of FST presented the vote of thanks and welcome address respectively.
