KVK Srinagar holds skill training on flower arrangements for IHM students

Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmur University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Srinagar organised a collaborative skill training program on “Flower Arrangements for different Settings” for the Institute of Hotel Management students at IHM campus, Rajbagh.
Principal, IHM, Qazi Shabir Ahmed presided over as the chief guest. The programme was attended by Head KVK Srinagar Dr Sajad Mohidden, a team of Scientists from KVK, IHM Faculty and about 100 students from IHM participated.
Qazi Shabir in his address enlightened the students about the importance of the skill-oriented training programs. Head KVK Srinagar talked about the role of KVK in organizing such skill-oriented programs for different stakeholders like Rural youth, School dropouts, Students etc. Dr Gazanfer Gani SMS floriculture KVK, Srinagar gave an expert lecture on arranging flowers for different settings and also equipped the students with some knowledge about the identification of different planting materials being used in making different flower arrangements. The demonstration program was carried out by Dr. Gazanfer Gani, scientist floriculture, Dr Saima Paul scientist Home Science and an expert from Div of FLA SKUAST-K, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Head Gardener. Students were exposed to a detailed demonstration program of flower arrangements Viz flower bouquets, table flower arrangements, flower arrangements for walls, Dining halls, Living rooms, Kitchens, outdoor settings etc.
