Jal Diwali ‘Women for Water, Water for Women’ campaign concludes at Hajin

Hajin: Jal Diwali ‘Women for Water, Water for Women’, an ambitious initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under its flagship scheme – AMRUT, in partnership with the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and Odisha Urban Academy, concluded in Hajin Bandipora on Thursday. The campaign commenced on Wednesday throughout the country.
In this regard, Jal Shakti department Sumbal in collaboration with Municipal Committee Hajin organised an event in Gulshanabad Hajin.
The program was chaired by Executive Officer MC Hajin Firdous Ahmad. Besides him, District Urban Development Agency Baramulla/Bandipora Shakeel Ahmad Khan, Mission Manager Junaid Ahmad Mir, Junior Engineer Aabid Aziz Mugal, Works Supervisor PHE Abdul Majeed, Community Organiser Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh, CO Bandipora Mohammad Maqbool, Senior assistant Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHGs were also present in the event.
The “Women for Water, Water for Women” campaign was aimed to provide a platform for the inclusion of women in water governance.
On the occasion, SHGs were given first-hand knowledge about water treatment processes through visits to Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) at Hajin.
Enthusiastic participation marked the campaign as more than 20 women from across the block Hajin delved into the heart of the campaign during “Jal Diwali”. Guests welcomed SHG women with flowers and were presented with field visit kits, including water bottles, etc.
Throughout the day, the women were immersed in the world of water infrastructure, receiving expert guidance on water quality testing protocols, and ensuring the highest standards of water purity for their communities. The campaign’s goal of empowering women through knowledge was achieved as participants left with a deeper sense of ownership and responsibility towards water infrastructure.
