J&K Police celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

Srinagar: To commemorate huge contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas also known as ‘National Unity Day’ was celebrated by J&K Police across the valley. Besides, Run for Unity events were organised with great fervour and enthusiasm.
On the occasion, pledge taking ceremonies were organized during which the officers and officials of J&K Police pledged to work collaboratively to eliminate corruption in all its forms and strongly oppose any unethical conduct in view of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). Officers and officials solemnly vowed to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and good governance.
At PCR Kashmir, the pledge taking ceremony was led by SSP PCR Kashmir Showkat Hussain Shah in which officers and officials of police participated with great enthusiasm.
‘Run for Unity’ event promoting national unity and integrity among the community was organised in Budgam which started from Budgam Railway Station to Zehra Park. Over 600 students from various schools of the district alongwith civil society members enthusiastically participated. DC Budgam, SSP Budgam, ADC Budgam, Chief Education officer Budgam and other officers of police and civil admin graced the occasion.
Pledge taking ceremonies were held across district Ganderbal and the main function of pledge taking ceremony was held at District Police Lines Ganderbal. SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar-IPS took the salute of the parade and administered oath to the police officers and Jawans. Contingents of District Police Ganderbal, Armed Police, CAPF & SPOs took part in a colourful March Past.
In Handwara, pledge taking ceremony and March Past was organized at District Police Lines Handwara. Moreover, a one-mile (1.6 km) run themed *“Run for Unity” was organized which started from Chotipora to Environmental Hall Handwara along the Byepass road.
An impressive parade by the contingents of Police, IRP, lady IRP, BSF, CRPF & SSB was conducted on the eve of Rahstriya Ekta Diwas in Baramulla. SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS took salute at the March Past and administered oath to all the participants at District Police Lines Baramulla.
Pledge taking ceremony was held by Sopore Police at District Police Lines Sopore besides, Run for Unity was also organised from DPL to Seer Crossing.
In Awantipora, pledge taking function was held at District Police Lines Awantipora where the officers & officials took pledge for unity, integrity and security of the nation. Moreover, “Run for Unity” was organized which started from Noorpora Crossing to T-Chowk in which about 200 youth of different age groups of PD Awantipora participated.
Pledge taking ceremonies were held in all police establishments of district Kulgam during which all the officers/officials of police Kulgam participated and pledged to preserve the unity and Integrity of the Nation and dedicate themselves for the country. The main parade was held at DPL Kulgam where SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS took salute at the March past of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade participated by the contingents of District Executive Police, Armed Police, Home guards and SSP Kulgam administered pledge to all the participants. Moreover, “Run for Unity” event was organized which started from DPL Kulgam to Sangus Crossing. In the event, students of different schools who braved the early morning chill to take part in the event participated. The race was flagged off by DySP DAR Kulgam Shri Rajinder Singh-JKPS on the directions of SSP Kulgam Shri Sahil Sarangal-IPS.
Pledge taking ceremonies were organised across district Shopian, with largest pledge taking ceremony held at DPO Shopian where in officers and other police personnel were administered pledge by Addl.SP Shopian Naresh Singh-JKPS. Moreover, “Run for Unity” was also organised from Rainbow School Shopian to DPL Shopian, flagged off by ASP Shopian on the directions of SSP Shopian.
Contingents of J&K Police/Armed Police & Home Guard took the pledge in Pulwama during pledge taking ceremonies held in all police establishments across the district. Mini Marathon “Run for Unity” event in collaboration with District Admin was also organised in which over 250 students from various schools along with members from civil society participated. The run started from the Deputy Commissioner’s office and concluded at Center High School Pulwama.
