Must read

Pampore: In a noteworthy initiative aimed at providing essential healthcare to the underserved, the 185 and 110 Battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a joint free medical camp in the remote village of Wahab Sahab Shar Shali, located in Pampore, South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, on Monday.
This compassionate effort, conducted under the civic action program, sought to extend vital medical assistance to the villagers and devotees residing in the far-flung area of Wahab Sahab. During the camp, a substantial number of villagers and devotees visiting the Wahab Sahab shrine received free medical consultations and essential medicines. The local residents, deeply appreciative of CRPF’s efforts, expressed heartfelt gratitude for organizing medical camps that cater to the less privileged residing in remote regions.
The event was inaugurated by Commandant of 185 Battalion, Arun Kumar Bharati, and Commandant of 110 Battalion, Yougesh Prohit. Their presence, alongside local residents, including Chowkidar Shar Shali Ferooz Ahmad and other CRPF officials, underscored the collaborative spirit in providing vital healthcare services to those in need. A dedicated team of CRPF doctors conducted medical check-ups for both the local residents and devotees who thronged the Wahab Sahab shrine, with approximately 300 people benefiting from the camp.
Following the medical check-ups, free medicines were distributed among patients, encompassing women, children, and the elderly. This initiative not only highlights CRPF’s dedication to community welfare but also showcases the profoundly positive impact that such outreach programs have on the lives of people in remote areas. These programs ensure access to essential healthcare facilities, promoting the overall well-being of the community.
Prior to this, the 185 Battalion CRPF and 110 Battalion CRPF jointly organized a mega blood donation camp in the Lethpora area of Pampore Tehsil. In a remarkable display of humanitarian effort, the CRPF collaborated with Government Medical College Handwara for this initiative. Held at the Comando Training Centre in Lethpora, the event saw active participation from Commandant 185 Battalion Arun Kumar Bharti, Commandant 110 Battalion Yougesh Prohit, along with numerous CRPF personnel and officers. The mega blood donation camp, inaugurated by IG Kashmir Ops Sector, CRPF Alok Avasthy, witnessed the donation of a total of 100 pints of blood by CRPF officials and jawans, underscoring their commitment to the cause.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Commandant 185 Arun Kumar Bharti stated, “CRPF is deployed on security duty in Kashmir, and our mission is not only to ensure the safety of the people but also to take care of their health and well-being.” He emphasized that the medical camp in Wahab Sahab Shar Shali was an integral part of the CRPF’s Civic Action Programme, designed to assist those who cannot access hospitals due to the remoteness of their location.
“Our main goal is to reach out to these people, and through this, we aim to establish a new relationship with their health,” he added.
A local resident of Wahab Sahab, speaking to Kashmir Reader, expressed gratitude for the CRPF’s efforts. “The free medical camp organized today in Wahab Sahab by the CRPF has been incredibly beneficial for the people here. We have many low-income residents here, making it challenging for us to reach a doctor. Even if we manage to do so, the fees can be exorbitant,” the resident said. “At today’s CRPF medical camp, people received free medical checkups and medicines. The camp has been particularly beneficial for the economically disadvantaged Gujjar community, predominantly present in this area. We express our gratitude to the CRPF officials who organized the medical camp and provided free medicines. We earnestly request the CRPF to continue organizing such free medical camps in the future.”
