BMO inaugurates camp, distributes free medicines to patients

Pampore: In a bid to raise awareness about the importance of eye health, Sub District Hospital Pampore marked World Sight Day with a series of impactful initiatives on Thursday.
During the camp, about 100 patients were examined by the doctors and distributed free medicines among the participants. The event, organised by the hospital’s ophthalmology department, was inaugurated by the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr. Asima Nazir. The day’s activities were designed to emphasize the significance of regular eye check-ups and early intervention in preventing vision-related issues.
A pivotal moment of the event was the inauguration of a health camp, where individuals from various age groups were offered free eye screenings, consultations, and examinations.
A team of skilled optometrists and medical staff conducted comprehensive tests, diagnosing refractive errors, cataracts, and other eye conditions.
BMO Pampore, Dr Asima Nazir while speaking to Kashmir Reader said that SDH Pampore observed World Sight Day under the guidance of the Director Health Services Kashmir. “Our theme for the day was to screen and sanitize as many office staff members as possible. In this regard, we conducted screenings and sanitization for the general OPD as well. We arranged for free check-ups with ophthalmologists and distributed free medications to the patients,” he said.
During the medical camp, we screened approximately 100 patients and provided them with excellent consultations and care,” the BMO Pampore said, adding, “We have identified numerous patients during this camp, and appointments for eye surgeries have been scheduled for them tomorrow at SDH Pampore. The surgeries for these patients will take place tomorrow, while the remaining patients will undergo surgery next Thursday.”
