Two-day District Wushu Championship Srinagar 2023 concludes successfully

Srinagar: The two-day District Wushu Championship in Srinagar concluded on a high note, celebrating the exceptional skills and dedication of the region’s young athletes. Organized by the District Wushu Association Srinagar, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 players representing various schools and clubs.
Held at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex in Srinagar, athletes from 20 different institutions showcased their prowess in different Wushu categories, leaving the audience in awe with their discipline, strength, and agility.
The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities, including Mr. Muzaffar (Division Sports Officer Kashmir), the chief guest, accompanied by notable figures such as Mr. Hilal Ahmad (Manager, Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Mir (Manager, Gindun Sports Complex), Mr. Kamal Kishore (International Wushu Player), Mr. Aijaz Hassan (Coach, KIC Handwara), Mr. Rameez Ah Dar (Coach, KIC Shopian), Mr. Umer (International Wushu Player), Mr. Atul (National Medalist), and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Wani (Organizing Secretary). Mr. Muzaffar’s support highlighted the event’s significance in promoting sports in the district.
The organizers expressed gratitude to Secretary Sports Council Jammu and Kashmir, Miss Nuzhat Gul, for her unwavering support and provision of necessary resources, facilitating the championship’s success. The contribution of Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, a renowned Wushu practitioner and recipient of the prestigious Dronacharya Award in India, was also acknowledged. His guidance has been instrumental in the growth of Wushu in the region.
The District Wushu Association Srinagar remains committed to organizing such events, nurturing young athletes’ potential, and fostering the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. The event’s overall winner was the Indoor Wushu Academy (IwA), with Al-Noor Model School (Safa Kadal) as the runner-up. The 2nd runner-up positions were shared by Arise International Academy (Chek-i-Mujgund) and Crescent Higher Secondary School (Natipora).
In his closing words, Mr. Mohammad Maqsood Rather (Joint Secretary, Wushu Association J&K) expressed gratitude to all participants, organizers, guests, and sponsors, emphasizing the championship’s success and the remarkable talent displayed. He congratulated the participants for their exceptional skills and determination, and he thanked the organizing committee, guests, and sponsors for their invaluable contributions.
The championship, marked by moments of triumph and camaraderie, signifies the beginning of an exciting journey for Wushu enthusiasts in Srinagar and across Jammu and Kashmir. The event’s success is a testament to the collective efforts of the Wushu community, and it paves the way for even greater achievements in the future.
