Kargil Vijay Diwas: Army organises women’s cricket friendly match at Hajin

Hajjn: As part of Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav, a women’s friendly match was organised by the Indian Army along with Aseem Foundation, Pune on Thursday at Hajin.
The match received an overwhelming response across the Hajin and its adjoining areas. The match was played between Aseem Eleven and Majestic Sports Club Bandipora at AGS Hajin.
In a keenly contested match, Aseem XI were put to bat first and they set up a target of 105 runs. Aseem Foundation Pune emerged victorious by 44 runs. The sporting spirit and support displayed by the spectators is testimony to the rich culture and encouragement to women in sports across Kashmir.
This unique endeavour has sent a strong signal of women empowerment for women cricketers of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir who showcased their talent and standards to all. Players and locals hailed the efforts of the Indian Army and Aseem Foundation, Pune and urged them to organise similar tournaments in future as well, as such tournaments would encourage the local players and help them to compete at the national level.
The chief guest for the event was Imtiyaz Parray and DDC Member Naza Begum.
The organisers, participating teams & spectators paid their heartfelt tribute to the bravehearts of the Kargil War.
The event was attended by CO 13RR, government officials and a large number of youth and locals from the adjoining areas.
